The magnificent Ballroom with its beautiful fireplace and bay window and high ceilings can comfortably seat 60 wedding guests. Is this the ideal setting for your wedding ceremony?
Bar Smith Billiard room
The Bar Smith Billiard room with its three dazzling chandeliers has a capacity of up to twenty guests.
It adjoins the Robert Charles Room and is often used as a “retreat” for bridal parties for weddings.
If you are planning a small wedding but don’t want to compromise on quality, this the Bar Smith Room is a venue you must consdere.
It has a classic blend of beautiful old-world and modernistic charm. The original English Oak Fireplace has a series of very rare 19th Century Elfin tiles.
The furniture in this room is quiet spectacular with:

– 2 seater sofa covered in William Morris Autum Flowers
– William Morris Honeysuckle & Tulips Curtains over Swarovski Sheer Curtains
Auchendarroch House was originally called the Oakfield Hotel and this room was originally divided in two being the front bar and the office.
Oakfield Hotel served mail coaches on their way to the main Murray River crossing at Wellington.
The fabric on the wall is Kelmscott Tree Russett Artichoke. This pattern is the same as the bed curtains at Kelmscott Manor and were embroidered by
May Morris in 1891
The original fireplaces are believed to be installed circa 1878. Oakfield room can accommodate 20-40 wedding guests.
Robert Charles Room
If you prefer a blend of old and new, you’ll find the new Robert Charles Room will more than fulfil your expectations.
This room was created in 2009 to accommodate larger wedding functions. It was named in honour of Robert Charles William Wallis.
The room features sparkling Swarovski crystal curtains, and distinctive ceiling lights, with handmade forged iron vine leaves surrounding the bar.
The magnificent clock above the fireplace was specially designed using pieces found in the House. The waratah pieces surrounding the clock are candle holders from the Boulevard Lounge at Mitcham Cinemas
For larger weddings, the Bistro area is also available for receptions from 150 to 230 guests.
Outdoor wedding venue options
The Auchendarroch property also includes a generous selection of outdoor spaces suitable as backdrops for an outdoor wedding ceremony. When the weather is right, we can also serve your guests either standing or sitting in the outdoor spaces.
Joanna’s Garden of Serenity
Brimming with fernshy, clivea, geraniums, violets, pink bergenia and a border of hellebores. Amazing bulbs – bluebells, jonquils and snowdrops will spring to life to add to the calm, cool ambience of this garden. A beautiful space to calm the bride and groom’s nerves.
Heritage Rose Gardens
This wedding garden features a collection of beautiful roses with interesting stories linked to famous South Australians. The Lovers Statue provides a romantic photographic backdrop for the wedding party and/or guests.
Jemima’s Kitchen Garden
Jemima Puddleduck of Beatrix Potter fame would be very comfortable in this period kitchen garden. A quirky space suits a smaller gathering.
Garden Weave of Natives
A stepping stone journey through meandering a path of native plants.
Dee Dee’s Secret Garden
A special place for Deanna Wallis with roses dedicated to her Grandfather. This sentimental space is ideal for a romantic exchange of wedding vows. An ideal wedding photo location is the bench under the Manchurian Peartree.
